About this postcard

A view across a lily-pad-covered pond toward a low rustic stone bridge, with strollers in early-20th-century dress on the gravel paths and a windmill and red-roofed building among the trees beyond. The card names the scene as Washington Park, Milwaukee, one of the parks laid out for the city by Frederick Law Olmsted and his firm in the early 1890s, which included a lagoon, winding drives and a conservatory. Curt Teich of Chicago printed this tinted view as number 527 in its Milwaukee series.
