About this postcard
A view over Port Antonio harbour in Jamaica, framed by tall coconut palms and a large tree at right, with several vessels — including a white steamer and a smaller boat flying the American flag — lying in the blue-green water below forested hills. Port Antonio, on Jamaica's northeast coast, was developed in the late 19th century as a banana-shipping port and became a fashionable tourist destination, promoted by the United Fruit Company's steamship and hotel interests. The printed caption names the scene simply as the harbour of Port Antonio.
