The view looks across Beirut's harbor, where small boats lie moored behind a stone breakwater and the city's buildings line the waterfront under a pale sky. In the early 20th century Beirut was a principal Levantine port, handling passengers and goods moving between the eastern Mediterranean and the interior of Syria.
Stamps affixed and postmarked on front: one French 5c/25c stamp overprinted 'GRAND LIBAN' and two 10c 'GRAND LIBAN' stamps. Publisher line printed on the address side: Sarrafian Bros., Beirut (Syria), advertising a complete set of 60 post cards of Business Life and costumes of Syria and Palestine, etc.; series 25A.
Postmark: BEYROUTH (partial circular cancel struck on the front over the stamps; only 'BEY...' legible, no date or time). Divided-back 'Carte postale' with green imprint. No handwritten message or address on this side — only a dealer/price mark 'RMLJ 10-' in the upper right. Front: tinted view of Beyrouth Port; no white border.
