A studio portrait of an infant seated in a wicker chair, wearing a voluminous white ruffled dress and looking slightly to the side, the image framed in an oval vignette against a dark background. The embossed imprint identifies the photographer S. Traub of Centerville, South Dakota, a small town in Turner County settled in the late 19th century. Such oval-vignette baby portraits on postcard-backed mounts were a staple of small-town American studios in the 1900s and 1910s.
Oval vignette on a plain light mount with wide margins; photographer's imprint embossed in white at lower right; light edge wear and faint soiling on the mount.
No postmark or stamp. Divided-back real-photo postcard on cream matte stock with embossed photographer's mark at lower right; names written in pencil in the message panel and a surname in the address panel. Light soiling/toning, corners slightly worn.
