About this postcard
A bust-length color portrait of Andrew Jackson, shown in profile facing left, wearing a dark blue military coat with gold buttons, a high yellow collar and gold epaulettes, with a red cloak over his shoulder. The card's own caption identifies him simply as "ANDREW JACKSON." Jackson (1767–1845) was a U.S. Army major general in the War of 1812, hero of the Battle of New Orleans, and later the seventh President of the United States (1829–1837); this image follows the familiar military-portrait type of him in later life with white hair.
