A head-and-shoulders studio portrait of the actress Mrs. Patrick Campbell, hands raised to her cheeks, reproduced as a red halftone print within a thin red rule. Born Beatrice Stella Tanner (1865–1940), she was one of the most celebrated British stage actresses of her day, famed for roles in Pinero's "The Second Mrs. Tanqueray" and later for George Bernard Shaw's "Pygmalion," which he wrote for her. Portrait cards of leading performers like this were popular souvenirs in the early 1900s.
