About this postcard

The card reproduces an oval-framed portrait of Rachel Donelson Jackson, shown in a dark dress with a white lace cap and veil. Rachel Donelson Robards Jackson (1767–1828) was the wife of Andrew Jackson; she died after his 1828 election and before his inauguration, so their niece Emily Donelson served as White House hostess during his presidency.
