About this postcard

A color lithograph view of Dallas's old federal Post Office building, a three-story masonry structure with a mansard roof, dormers, and a tall square clock tower capped by a dark dome; a second tower rises from the wing behind, and a dirt street with scattered figures and small commercial buildings extends to the right. The building served as Dallas's combined post office and federal courthouse in the years around the turn of the twentieth century, when the city was a rapidly growing cotton and railroad center. The printed caption names it simply as the Post Office, Dallas, Texas.
