Post Office, Winchester, Kentucky, circa 1936

Card type
Linen

About this postcard

A three-story neoclassical post office building with a red tile roof, a colonnaded entrance portico reached by a broad flight of steps, and an American flag flying above the cornice; a taller brick commercial block stands behind it at right. The card's caption identifies it simply as the Post Office at Winchester, Kentucky, seat of Clark County in the Bluegrass region. The '6A' production code in the lower corner indicates a Curt Teich view of the mid-1930s, when many such federal buildings were depicted on linen-textured cards.
