About this postcard
A handwritten postal card from Savona, N.Y., to R. P. Mulles, identified as "Collector" in Vineland, N.J., asks for a bill of interest on the Mary A. Powers note. The writer promises to send payment before the interest is added. The addressee's surname is written variously in the transcriptions (Mulles, Yelles, Halles). The request is a small piece of ordinary financial business, the kind of errand one-cent postal cards handled cheaply in the 1880s. Vineland was then a South Jersey agricultural and glassmaking town, while Savona was a small village in Steuben County.
