About this postcard
The Presidential Ramada Inn stands at a busy Lynchburg intersection, its low glass-fronted facade topped by a rooftop sign with a colonial figure and the words "PRESIDENTIAL RAMADA INN." Below, a roadside sign reads "RAMADA INN / WELCOME TO THE HEART OF VIRGINIA / TRAVEL A RAMADA ROUTE COAST TO COAST," with a "MAIN ST." marker and 1960s cars in view. The motel sat on East Main Street, a typical roadside stop for travelers on the Ramada chain's coast-to-coast route. Ramada was expanding rapidly as a motor-hotel chain in the mid-twentieth century, and its large signs were designed to catch the eye of highway traffic.
