A dense clump of prickly pear cactus (Opuntia) fills the frame, its flat green pads heavily set with clusters of ripe red-purple fruit, with trees and shrubbery behind and rough grass in front. The card's own caption names the scene simply "Cactus and Fruit." Prickly pear fruits, often called tunas, are edible and were a familiar sight in the semi-arid landscapes of the American Southwest and Mexico that early twentieth-century view cards liked to advertise.
