The view shows the Prospect House, a large three-story wooden hotel in Waltham, Massachusetts, with a columned porch, balcony, and green shutters. A smaller building with a cupola and sign stands behind it, and a red-and-white striped awning marks an entrance at right.
Waltham in the early 1900s was a busy manufacturing city west of Boston, known for its watch works and factories. The hotel's broad porch and balcony fit the era's commercial hotels, which offered public rooms and shade for guests in an industrial city.
White border; light staining/spotting in sky; printed caption in red.
