About this postcard
The view looks down from Prospect Point on the American side of Niagara Falls, with the American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls plunging over the cliff at left and the long crest of Horseshoe Falls visible in the distance across the river; a small tour boat works the churning basin below. Prospect Point, at the brink of the American Falls, has been the classic American-side overlook since the early nineteenth century and today anchors Niagara Falls State Park, established in 1885 as the oldest state park in the United States. The boat in the basin is of the type used by the Maid of the Mist, which has carried sightseers to the foot of the falls since 1846.
