A tinted view of Milwaukee's monumental Public Library and Museum building, a grand classical Revival structure of 1895-1898 designed by Ferry & Clas, with a columned facade, heavy cornice and a red-capped dome, seen across a lawn with a statue on a pedestal and parked automobiles. The building housed both the city library and the Milwaukee Public Museum until the museum moved to its own quarters in the 1960s. The automobiles in the street date the view to the 1920s.
