About this postcard

The Lexington Public Library appears as a Neoclassical building with a columned portico, pediment, and hipped roof. A few figures stand on the entrance steps and the lawn. The library traces its origins to 1795; its Carnegie-funded building on West Main Street had recently opened when this card was sent, part of the early-1900s wave of Carnegie libraries in American cities and towns.
