The view looks along a tree-shaded street in Littleton Centre, Massachusetts, with the small gabled public library standing at the right among tall elms and neighboring houses. Littleton Centre was the village center of an old Middlesex County town, and the scene reflects the compact, tree-lined centers common in early-20th-century New England villages. A brief greeting from Aunt Mattie to Charlotte S. Hassett in Amesbury shows the card's ordinary use for keeping in touch.
White border along the bottom carrying the printed caption "VIEW OF LITTLETON CENTRE SHOWING PUBLIC LIBRARY. LITTLETON, MASS."; halftone reproduction of a photograph; faint circular postmark/cancel struck over the lower center of the image; message written on the front ("Greetings from Aunt Mattie."), indicating an undivided-back era card.
Postmark: R.F.D. JUN 15 1906 Concord Junction — undivided back ("THIS SIDE IS FOR THE ADDRESS"), 1¢ Franklin stamp affixed; publisher line "1968-PUBLISHED BY CONANT & CO."; imprint N. E. Paper & Stationery Co., Mfrs., Ayer, Mass. along left edge; light toning and a few stains.
