About this postcard

A curved two-story motel with a wide band of dark glass windows and a flat white canopy over the entrance, seen across a green lawn with shrubs and a gravel bed. An American flag flies above the roofline, and cars are parked at the left. The Quality Inn stood on Totten Pond Road in Waltham, west of Boston, in the Route 128 corridor that filled with office parks and technology firms through the 1970s and 1980s. Motels of this kind catered to business travelers working in the suburban office belt, and the chain's standardized low-rise design, with exterior corridors and a prominent sign, was built for the roadside market.
