About this postcard

A view across the Quemahoning Reservoir toward its concrete spillway dam, with a long steel truss bridge or gate structure spanning the water above the falls and wooded hills rising behind. The Quemahoning Dam, completed in 1913 on the Quemahoning Creek in Somerset County, was built by the Cambria Steel Company to supply water to its Johnstown mills and later became a public water source and recreation lake. The card's linen texture and Curt Teich production number date it to the late 1930s or 1940s.
