A single-track railroad curves along the bank of a broad river, with steep, densely wooded mountains rising on both sides and hazy blue peaks closing the valley in the distance; a telegraph pole stands beside the track at right. The printed lines name the scene: "In the Land of the Sky" and "On the French Broad River." The French Broad flows north through western North Carolina, and "Land of the Sky" was a well-known promotional name for the Asheville mountain region served by the Southern Railway's line through the French Broad River gorge.
Thin white border; color lithograph with visible halftone dot screen; light edge and corner wear, small scuffs at left margin.
