About this postcard
A three-panel souvenir view of New York City landmarks: the slender slab of the RCA Building at Rockefeller Center rising above the surrounding midtown blocks, the Statue of Liberty on her pedestal in New York Harbor against a sunset sky, and the Empire State Building towering over the surrounding rooftops. The Statue of Liberty, dedicated in 1886, was a gift from France and served as the harbor's welcome to arriving immigrants; the Empire State Building (1931) and the RCA Building (1933) were the era's celebrated Art Deco skyscrapers. The linen-textured stock and the bright, saturated coloring are typical of mid-century American view cards.
