About this postcard

A rough-faced stone Gothic Revival church with a tall square tower and pinnacles stands at a street corner behind bare winter trees. The Reid Memorial Church was built in 1906 as a memorial gift from Daniel G. Reid, a Richmond native who made his fortune in tin plate and steel in New York; the Boston firm Cram, Goodhue & Ferguson designed it. The sender's note tells the recipient it cost about $200,000 and was given to the Presbyterians, repeats the local story of Reid as a poor Richmond boy who went to New York and made good, and urges the recipient to listen for the chime.

J. B. Quest This church is across street from us. We listen to the chime every eve. Papa will tell you more when he was a poor Richmond boy. Went to N.Y. made lots of money (and gave this church, costing about $200,000) to the Presbyterians today here. Emy
