About this postcard

A halftone view of the Reid Memorial Church in Richmond, Indiana: a rough-faced stone Gothic Revival building dominated by a tall square tower with pinnacles, set behind bare winter trees at a street corner. The church was built in 1906 as a memorial gift from Daniel G. Reid, a Richmond native who made his fortune in tin plate and steel in New York, and was designed by the Boston firm Cram, Goodhue & Ferguson. The handwritten note on the card repeats the local story that Reid gave the church, costing about $200,000, in memory of his parents.
