About this postcard

A halftone view of the Renville County Court House in Olivia, Minnesota, shown within an oval vignette: a three-story stone or brick courthouse of late-19th-century design, with a tall central dome-topped tower, hipped roofs with small dormers, and a columned entrance portico, set behind a lawn and curving walk. Renville County was organized in 1866 and named for Gabriel Renville, a mixed-ancestry Dakota leader; Olivia has served as the county seat since 1879, and the courthouse pictured is the county's imposing Victorian-era seat of government.
