About this postcard

Ressler's Mill, also called Mascot Roller Mill, is a stone grist mill with a green roof and cupola, set beside a red brick house and picket fence. A horse-drawn carriage waits near a group of women in long dark dresses and white caps, likely Amish, while a sheep grazes in the foreground. The caption identifies the mill as the oldest continuously operating grist mill in the United States, built in 1760 and powered by Mill Creek. Amish farmers in the area regularly brought grain and meal there for grinding, a practice that kept the old mill in working use.
