A close view of pink rhododendron blossoms among dark green leathery leaves, printed on the card as "Rhododendron, W. Va. State Flower." The rhododendron (Rhododendron maximum, the great laurel) was designated West Virginia's state flower in 1903, and the shrub grows thickly in the state's mountain woods and along its highland streams. The dark background and saturated color are typical of mid-century color postcards.
White border around the image; glossy chrome-era color printing; production number 1A1286 printed vertically at the right edge (Curt Teich style numbering, early 1950s).
No postmark; unused divided-back card. Circa 1930s-40s linen-era "C.T. American Art Colored" stock; light soiling and a pencil "3" at top.
