The view follows River Drive in Fairmount Park, where a road curves along the riverbank below a large stone arch bridge with a steel truss span. A train is visible on the bridge, and a utility pole and trees line the road. Fairmount Park's riverside drives gave Philadelphians a scenic route along the Schuylkill, and by the early 1900s the park's carriage roads and the railroad bridge were part of the landscape.
