About this postcard

The view looks west along a broad gravel drive curving through a grove of tall shade trees in Rivermont Park. A small frame pavilion and benches sit among the trunks at left, with a mass of reddish shrubbery at right. Rivermont Park was laid out in the late 19th century in the Rivermont section of Lynchburg, a residential development across the James River from downtown. It served as a shaded public pleasure ground in the early 1900s.
