A view of Rivermont Park in Lynchburg, Virginia, showing a low brick pavilion with an open colonnade and a square tower topped by a small roof and flagpole. Tall pines and shade trees rise behind the structure, and a broad lawn opens in front.
Rivermont Park was part of Lynchburg's Rivermont neighborhood, a section that grew with the city's streetcar lines in the late 19th century. Pavilions of this kind served as open-air gathering places for concerts, picnics, and summer outings in city parks of the period.
