About this postcard

A shaded walk through mature trees, with benches and small ornamental plantings, is the view of Rivermont Park in Lynchburg, Virginia. The park lay in the Rivermont tract, a late-19th-century suburban development on the hills above the James River north of downtown Lynchburg. In the early 1900s, shaded city parks were popular places for walks and outings, and postcards helped advertise Lynchburg's neighborhoods to visitors and former residents.
