About this postcard

A shaded road curves through dense trees toward Spot Pond, with a utility pole at right and small red flowers along the grassy verges. A tinted sky shows through the canopy above. Spot Pond lies in the Middlesex Fells Reservation north of Boston, a protected landscape that drew early-1900s visitors for scenic drives and outings. The road from Melrose was a local route into that wooded reservation.
