About this postcard
A three-story red-brick school with white stone trim, a central cupola, and rows of multi-pane windows stands behind a lawn. Two dark automobiles are parked at the left curb. The building is the Robert E. Lee Junior High School in Lynchburg, Virginia. Lynchburg's public school system expanded in the early twentieth century, and the school was named for Confederate general Robert E. Lee, a common choice in Virginia during the early twentieth century. The automobiles at the curb suggest a scene from the 1920s or 1930s.
