About this postcard
The Robert Treat Paine Memorial Pulpit fills the dark interior of Trinity Church, Boston, its carved stone relief panels set off by a hanging lamp and stained glass. The pulpit is carved with figures the caption calls "five great preachers of the ages." Trinity Church, designed by H. H. Richardson and completed in the 1870s, is a Romanesque Revival landmark at Copley Square, and it was the Boston pulpit of Phillips Brooks, the nineteenth-century Episcopal preacher who later became bishop of Massachusetts.
