About this postcard
A view north along Robinson Street in downtown Oklahoma City, with tall commercial blocks lining both sides and automobiles and pedestrians filling the roadway. A white terra-cotta facade with pinnacled turrets stands on the right, a darker office block on the left, and a distant tower closes the perspective down the street. The street, known today as Robinson Avenue, was the city's main downtown business address in the early twentieth century, lined with department stores, banks, and office blocks through the oil-boom years. By the time this view was published, Oklahoma City had grown into a regional oil and commercial center, and its downtown carried the traffic and street-level bustle such growth brought.
