About this postcard
Color lithograph view of the wave-cut sandstone bluffs at Point Loma, with a man and a woman in period dress standing atop two separate rock pinnacles and clasping hands across the gap. The old Point Loma Lighthouse, a small tower with a red lantern, rises on the point between the rock masses, and a natural arch pierces the formation at right above a rocky beach. The lighthouse was built in 1855 and served until 1891, when the light was moved lower down the point because fog and low clouds often obscured the original tower; the site later became part of Cabrillo National Monument.
