About this postcard
The Rock of Ages, a large rock formation in the Niagara Gorge below the American Falls, fills the foreground, with the Niagara River rushing past and spray rising from the cliff where visitors entered the Cave of the Winds. A light footbridge crosses the gorge behind the rock. The Cave of the Winds was a natural cavern behind Bridal Veil Falls, reached by wooden walkways and stairs, and the Rock of Ages was a well-known gorge landmark. Both drew sightseers in the years before later rockfalls and engineering work changed the gorge.
