About this postcard

A view up a narrow, rock-walled glen: a dark cave-like opening sits at the left in a pale, striated cliff, while a rutted road or stream bed curves away between steep banks under a canopy of dense trees. The faint red lettering on the rock face names the spot as Glen Onoko, a ravine above the Lehigh River near Mauch Chunk (now Jim Thorpe), Pennsylvania, which was a popular Victorian excursion ground reached by the famous Switchback Railroad. The hand-colored printing gives the rock a pinkish cast against deep green foliage.
