About this postcard
The Great Bath of the Roman Baths in Bath is shown with its colonnaded terrace, arched alcoves, and surrounding stonework. Bath Abbey's tower rises behind the complex, a Perpendicular Gothic landmark dating from the early sixteenth century. The site preserves one of Roman Britain's most complete bathing complexes, built around natural hot springs that still supply the pool. The sender's note makes a wry joke about the place: "Even the Romans took baths - but I'll bet it was more fun then than it is now."
