Romantic couple kissing on park bench, Oakesville, VA, 1910

Card type
Lithograph

About this postcard

A chromolithographed greeting card showing a seated couple kissing on a green park bench, the woman in a flower-trimmed hat and pink skirt, a closed umbrella lying on the grass at their feet. The scene is framed by an ornate gold-on-black Art Nouveau border of scrolling vines and daisies, with a printed romantic verse in a gold panel above. Cards of this type were mass-produced sentimental greetings in the Edwardian era, when postcards were a cheap everyday medium for sending affectionate messages.
