About this postcard

A spray of red and pink roses frames a blank scroll-shaped panel above the printed greeting "Best Birthday Wishes" and a four-line verse. The printed verse sends birthday wishes and says the sender has not forgotten the date but cannot be there to celebrate. The handwritten note begins "Dear Mother" and is signed Emo. Emo says the card is a little early, reports arriving at Grandma Sells by 11:15, and has peas shelled and ready to cook, inviting Mother to come help eat them. A brief line adds that the roads are fine. The note turns the printed wish into family news, the kind of quick message postcards carried cheaply in the early 1900s.
