About this postcard

A winding two-lane highway curves along a rocky stream through densely wooded hills, with autumn foliage in reds and yellows and layered mountain ridges fading into a blue sky. The card's own caption identifies the view as a scene on Route 219, the Pennsylvania highway linking the William Penn and Lincoln Highways, reached via Johnstown. Route 219 runs through the Allegheny Mountains of western Pennsylvania, a region whose steep, forested ridges and creek valleys made such curving mountain roads characteristic of the area.
