A row of tall royal palms lines a sandy path or drive, with masses of pink and white flowering shrubs, likely bougainvillea and oleander, beneath them against a pale blue sky. The caption names the scene "Royal Palms and Flowers, Florida," a typical view of the state's ornamental tropical plantings sold to tourists in the mid-20th century. Royal palms are native to South Florida and the Caribbean and were widely planted along streets and estates in the early 20th century.

Dear Beverly, How are you all.
Wish we could bring a lot of
sunshine along, we have so
much of it here. Grandpa, Emil,
and John Hames & son Dennis
went deep sea fishing and all
got seasick, that was something.
Soon we'll be home. We are leaving
Silver Springs tomorrow, we had a
wonderful time so far, now to get
ready. Love to all, Grandma + Grandpa
