The view looks across the water at Deception Pass, with calm water reflecting the sky, forested hills on both sides, and dark evergreens in the foreground. A small boat is visible on the surface.
The sender's message is a travel greeting in rhyme, with Pullman cars, auto rides, broad plains, mountains, and a bear or two. Deception Pass separates Whidbey and Fidalgo islands; the bridge that now spans it opened in 1935.
