Rural valley village with houses and fields, circa 1918

About this postcard

A dirt road runs through a narrow rural valley, past a scatter of frame houses and outbuildings set among open fields. Utility poles follow the road, and wooded hills rise behind the settlement. The trees are bare, suggesting late autumn or early spring. The poles suggest the hamlet had telephone or electric service, a sign that such lines had reached this rural district by the early 20th century.
