About this postcard
A view up Sabino Canyon near Tucson, with a curving stone masonry bridge and low dam holding a dark pool. Saguaro-dotted green slopes rise below bare red rock cliffs under a clear sky. The canyon, cut by Sabino Creek in the Santa Catalina Mountains, lies within Coronado National Forest and has long been a favorite picnic and recreation spot about 16 miles from Tucson. A paved road wound up the canyon, crossing and recrossing the mountain stream over a series of dams that formed deep ponds used by anglers and bathers throughout the year.
