About this postcard

A decorative motto card: sprays of orange and yellow nasturtium blossoms with round green leaves frame the top and right edge, printed with a raised, embossed effect, around the heading "Safety of the Godly" and the opening verse of Psalm 91 ("He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High..."). Cards of this type were sold as inexpensive inspirational or Sunday-school keepsakes in the early 20th century, often mailed as greetings. The verse is among the best-known passages of the Hebrew Bible, traditionally attributed to Moses and used in Christian and Jewish devotional practice as an assurance of divine protection.
