About this postcard
The Sage Library in Bay City, a two-story light stone building with a steep gabled roof, corner turret, and an arched entrance marked "READING ROOM," stands behind a lawn shaded by large trees. A statue fills a niche beside the door, and a curved walk leads up from the street. Lillian wrote from Bay City in late August 1912 to Kittie in Ann Arbor, glad that Kittie was having a good time and reporting that she and the children would leave Friday for a week's visit in Linwood, with regards passed along to Agnes. Bay City was then a lumber and shipbuilding town on Saginaw Bay, and its library, built in the 1880s with a gift from lumberman Henry W. Sage, served the neighborhood as both reading room and lending collection.
