Salt Lake Temple and Temple Square at night, Salt Lake City, Utah, circa 1940

Card type
Linen

About this postcard

Night view of the Salt Lake Temple rising above the landscaped grounds of Temple Square, with lit walkways, trees, and the Tabernacle's oval roof visible at left under a moonlit, cloud-streaked sky. The six-spired granite temple was built by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints between 1853 and 1893 and remains the square's centerpiece, alongside the domed Tabernacle completed in 1875. The card's night-time coloring and linen texture are typical of mid-century American view cards.
