San Antonio River scene, San Antonio, Texas, circa 1940

About this postcard

A view along the San Antonio River, where a curving walkway and a low stone retaining wall border the calm blue water beneath heavy tree cover; a white stucco building with red tile roof stands among the trees in the background. The caption presents it as one of the many attractive scenes along the river, the waterway that winds through downtown San Antonio and was later developed into the famous River Walk. The linen-textured printing and the "1B-H309" number are characteristic of Curt Teich chromolithograph postcards of the late 1930s and 1940s.
