About this postcard
A Florida souvenir card combining a verse titled "Sand in My Shoes" with a beach vignette: a woman bends to empty sand from her shoe while two children in bathing suits sit on the sand nearby, with palm trees, a striped beach umbrella, a bench of bathers and the ocean beyond. The three stanzas rhyme on Florida's blue skies, clean sand and neat bungalows. Curt Teich & Co. of Chicago was one of the largest American postcard publishers, and this linen-textured style with a comic or verse panel was typical of mid-century Florida tourist cards.
